Follow The Yellow Brick Road
2016
Gallery Guide maps of Chelsea inkjet printed on vinyl
Dimensions Variable

Follow The Yellow Brick Road leads the viewer into the exhibit's space with maps of galleries taken from the now-defunct Gallery Guide (from years 1997, 2004, 2005, 2009, and 2014.) The maps have been digitally copied and digitized yellow, eliciting Dorothy's yellow brick road in the Land of Oz. The maps line the floor and walls, highlighting the changes in the gallery landscape. The meaning behind this piece referencing the Yellow Brick Road is that achieving one's goal as we start out is already reached by the pure act. It is not dependent on the commercial aspects to be successful. The commercial aspects go in and out of existence while we remain.
