Turning Lemons into Lemonade
2016
Interactive multi-disciplinary installation: single-channel surround sound, digital prints on archival paper, acrylic, wood, silver paper cups, glass pitchers, lemonade, and mint
Variable Size, Site-Specific Piece

Rendered Installation View

The viewer walks into a room with yellow walls; in the center on the floor are oversized, crushed rejection letters, leaving a path for one to walk around. Around the room's perimeter, installed on the walls, are white shelves that hold pitchers of lemonade and silver cups. The room is filled with the surround sound of crushing and crinkling paper and infused with a lemon scent. Visitors help themselves to lemonade as they view the larger-than-life-size crushed rejection letters. The sound of the crushed letters, the scent of the lemons, and the experience of drinking lemonade out of a silver cup shift the viewers' "rejection" to a sensory satisfaction experience.
