Rush for President is an interactive piece. Artist Derrick Adams, appears in the poster as the gallery director campaigning for the artist running for president.  I chose the flag sewn by Betsy Ross, because of her strong input on the design and placement of the stars, suggesting unity. It is a symbol of collaboration and draws critical links between her labor and contribution. This satirical piece ponders the semiotics of gender and race in a contemporary political discourse while creating visual representations during the 2008 national election and today in our current election.
